Kyran recognized the man before him even before he finished what he was saying. Apart from that, he sensed an ominous foreboding and instinctively grabbed Cyneah by the waist to jump back.

Still.

BOOM!

"NGH—!"

"W-What—?"

"F-Father! What are you doing?"

"No! Lady Sisi is still—!"

Kyran felt a weight comparable to a huge, massive ton of steel slam to his exposed torso. The hit took him by surprise because he had believed he reacted well the moment he sensed the incoming danger.

"Kyran—!" Cyneah gasped in shock.

Although Kyran managed to filter most of the aftershock that came after the hit, Cyneah still felt a sliver of its strength and almost had her reeling in pain.

Kyran protected Cyneah as they were hurled several kilometers away from where they had appeared after exiting the portal.

"Ergh...!" Kyran roused his Draconic magic energy to enhance all his senses before forcefully regaining his bearing.

He planted his feet on the ground and used them to break his momentum after being hurled away.

"You have the nerve to use Draconic magic when I have never approved your existence?"

"!"

Kyran barely managed to dodge as the man, while executing a dropkick, appeared before them.

BOOM!

The man's huge feet landed on the spot where Kyran and Cyneah had just been and turned into a huge crater effortlessly.

"K-Kyran—!"

"Hold tight," was all Kyran could tell Cyneah as he used Dragon Steps to escape from the huge man— or, to be more specific, the Dragon Emperor.

Cyneah felt bad being a deadweight for Kyran. Then again, she did not expect the Dragon Emperor to start attacking as soon as they exited the portal.

Just now, she also heard Lady Ames, Ladon, and Thorn shouting in disbelief at the Dragon Emperor's action. Meaning they were similarly dumbfounded about the latter's move.

Before Cyneah could tell Kyran to let her go so he could focus on defending against the Dragon Emperor's attack, she heard another loud boom. Right after the sound, she saw the massive blinding light, which was how she identified the Dragon Emperor flashing before her peripheral view.

"He's already—!"

BOOM!

"GAH—!"

Kyran spat out a mouthful of blood as he endured the Dragon Emperor's fist, landing on the same spot on his torso.

"Ngh—!" Cyneah gritted her teeth as a bout of nausea overcame her senses right after experiencing the residual impact that Kyran failed to filter that came from the Dragon Emperor's fist.

Once again, the two were hurled back several kilometers away.

"Master!"

Aki and Auto-one shouted in concern as they hastily chased after them.

The Dragon Emperor had only made a few moves, but he managed to force Kyran and Cyneah quite a distance away from them. More importantly, he only used his raw physical strength to accomplish this.

"Don't!" Ames shouted, her voice laced with a powerful pressure that weighed down on Aki and Auto-one in an instant.

"Ngh!"

The two were forced to a stop as an invisible energy pressed down on them from above.

"If you two help Kyran, Father will be hell-bent on making him suffer more!" she warned them.

Aki turned to look at Ames, who made her way to them. He started, "But if we don't do anything..."

"The Young Mistress is also with him," Auto-one pointed out. Master will not be able to fight back with her safety on the line!"

"I get that, but Father is not really giving his all on his attacks. If he did, Kyran would have already died the moment his fist landed the first time."

"..."

Aki and Auto-one's faces turned blank as their eyes moved toward where the Dragon Emperor had once more caught up with their master and given him another bone-breaking punch.

That was him not giving his all on his attacks? Did Ames think they were blind?

"I know what you're thinking," Ames snorted after seeing the disbelieving looks on their faces. "But the fact that Kyran is still alive is a testament that my Father is not putting weight on his attacks."

BOOOM!

From a distance, another area on the ground turned into a huge crater as the Dragon Emperor's fist landed on the spot Kyran and Cyneah had just been.

"..."

"... If Father had put weight in that punch right then, the ground would not have only turned into a crater."

"You don't sound convinced yourself, Lady Ames," Aki told her.

"... In any case, just let my Father vent," Ames told them with a sigh. "He was really angry when I told him about the birth of a new Dragon Lord, but he kept his emotions intact. I know he was seething in anger, but..."

To be honest, Ames did not expect her Father to attack Kyran on sight. He did not even wait for the latter to step aside so Cyneah would not be caught in the middle of the fire. This alone proved how much he had been keeping his anger all this time.

What was he angry about?

Obviously, it was the fact that Kyran became the Dragon Lord when he was already the Void Master.

Ames knew it was dangerous for one human to possess two Ancient Magic Cores, and the fact that her family, the Regis, actually produced one made her Father even more furious.

One could say her Father felt betrayed. After all, the Regis Family was the offspring of his most precious daughter and his most beloved friend, Zane, the first and only Dragon Lord he acknowledged.

Ames's brow furrowed as she watched her Father continue to attack Kyran.

Kyran was doing a good job holding on, but because he was also protecting Cyneah, he could not move the way he wanted and always exposed one of his sides for the Dragon Emperor to exploit.

Nevertheless, Kyran endured the beating and knew well enough not to use Void magic in front of the Dragon Emperor. It was almost as if he knew that once he used Void magic, the latter would never truly acknowledge his existence.

"Really, that child..." Ames said with a sigh. "It seems like he had decided to accept my Father's welcome."

Leif and the rest of the Ogen representatives who exited the portal a few seconds after Kyran and Cyneah were dumbfounded at the scene that greeted them. They chose to keep their thoughts to themselves as they watched wide-eyed at how easily the Dragon Emperor beat the hell out of Kyran.

However, impressively enough, Kyran managed to endure even while protecting Cyneah.

Kyran skidded on the ground after getting kicked by the Dragon Emperor. He shifted his hold on Cyneah to protect her from the ground.

"I-I'm fine, Kyran. Just let me go— ugh!" Cyneah's words were stopped as they stumbled a few times when Kyran hit a few stones that stuck out from the ground.

Kyran gritted his teeth and endured the pain. Still, his arms around Cyneah had loosened for a fraction of a second, and she almost slipped from his grasp. Fortunately, he managed to tighten his hold on her clothes to keep her from slipping away.

"Until the end, you stubbornly held on to her."

Kyran looked up just in time for the Dragon Emperor to land a few feet away from where he and Cyneah skidded to a stop.

Cyneah paled after realizing that the Dragon Emperor had already caught up to them. Because of how Kyran used his body to shield her as they skidded to the ground, she was positioned in front, just between the Dragon Emperor and Kyran.

Kyran immediately sat up, about to switch positions with Cyneah, but the latter refused.

"Neah—."

"My Lord, Dragon Emperor," Cyneah looked toward the Dragon Emperor and started while sitting in front of Kyran.

"Please calm your anger... I-I apologize if I am acting way out of line, but K-Kyran is not in the condition to accept any more of your g-greeting."

The Dragon Emperor paused and looked at Cyneah with amusement, "Greeting, is it?"

"Y-Yes."

"You don't have to protect me, Neah; I'll—."

"I don't believe that a majestic being such as yourself will attack K-Kyran for no reason. I may not know much about the tradition between the Dragon Clan and the Regis Clan.

Still, the time I have spent here made me understand that one of the few greetings of respect your people showed the Regises was through the use of strength, and so I believe that what you're doing just now is a form of a greeting."

"N-N— T-That's not really—."

Before Kyran could even form what he wanted to say to Cyneah, the Dragon Emperor burst out in laughter.

"Ahahaha! Use of strength as a form of greeting, is that right?"

But then his expression turned cold as he regarded her with a fierce expression.

"I see that your lack of sight makes you fearless, human."

Cyneah caught her breath as she felt the Dragon Emperor's overwhelming presence.

But then.

"You've crossed the line," Kyran suddenly said as his eyes slowly turned silver. "Vent your anger on me all you want, but don't you speak with Neah that way."
