Chapter 742: Old Opponents

Cervantez frowned as he spotted Leo entering the battlefield atop Dumpy.

‘Why would someone like TheBoss waste his time on this conflict when he still had a throne left to claim?’ he wondered, as he clicked his tongue.

But while Leo’s presence only earned a frown, Cervantez’s expression twisted into something far darker when he noticed Luke fighting alongside him.

As he saw Luke fighting with his sword and shield, hatred boiled in his chest, clouding his thoughts with raw fury.

“You dare show your face here?” Cervantez muttered, his knuckles white as snow as he clenched his sword in a death grip.

If not for his responsibility to remain behind and guide his guild, he would have thrown himself into the fray without hesitation, ready to confront Luke head-on. But for now, he forced himself to stay rooted, his body trembling with restrained rage.

“It’s the fairy PinkLotus!” Someone muttered beside him, as Cervantez’s gaze then veered to the fourth character joining the war, which was none other than PinkLotus, his crush.

Complicated emotions arose in his heart as he saw PinkLotus fight alongside his enemies, however, he quickly turned his gaze away from her, unable to understand why his thoughts felt so clouded whenever he gazed upon that woman.

“She’s fighting with my enemies, so why can I not bring myself to dislike her? It’s almost like my body won’t allow me to dislike her, but I don’t understand why?” Cervantez muttered, as at this point he began to realize that his infatuation with PinkLotus was not normal, however, he could not wrap his head around why exactly he felt the way he felt.

“Guildmaster your orders?” A subordinate said, disturbing Cervantez when he was contemplating, as suddenly Cervantez jolted back to reality and regained the focused look in his eyes.

“The wall has been breached, prepare for battle. Get our knight squad to form a phalanx near the opening and inform the Duke that a tough battle might be underway soon” Cervantez said, as the subordinate frantically typed his orders into the guild chat and then rushed to carry the rest to the West Duke’s war camp.

“Also inform Tor and Lysa to restrain ‘TheBoss’ as long as they can. Only the two of them working together may stand a chance to slow him down” Cervantez said, as another subordinate relayed the orders to Tor and Lysa.

With ‘TheBoss’ joining the fight, the whole dynamic of the war had changed and the difference on a macro level became visible, as he alongside his colleagues carved open a path through the disciplined DarkSky formation, like it was butter.

************

When observed from a distance, the way ‘TheBoss’ fought was nearly impossible to believe.

Cervantez focused on the movement of his feet from the second he disembarked and even after a full 12 minutes had passed, ‘TheBoss’ was yet to take a single step back, as he did not pause for even a moment to break his advance.

In 12 minutes, he faced dozens of DarkSky soldiers, yet not once did he step back to dodge or deflect a blow, nor did he pause in one location for too long, as he seemed to be constantly advancing at a steady pace.

Mage, Rogue, Hunter, Knight, Swordsman, Paladin, it did not matter what class the opponent was, as against ‘TheBoss’, nobody stood a chance.

It was a one-sided domination, as it seemed like he was fighting against children, rather than proper opponents.

“Not good…. The Boss is too strong!”

“Can anyone stop this man?”

“We are the DarkSky, we mocked the righteous faction for not being able to take him down together, but when we face him alone, we aren’t any better either”

The common DarkSky guild members quickly realized that they were not strong enough to take down ‘TheBoss’, and not even strong enough to scratch him.

However, burdened with the duty to stand and fight, they still fought valiantly against the gaming god, albeit to no major success.

[Groundshaking Punch!]

A voice boomed from the distance, as Tor arrived before Leo with quite the flair.

*Boom*

*Tremble*

His attack caused a mini earthquake to form, knocking many men, friends and foes alike off their feet, however, Leo remained unfazed.

“I have been waiting for our rematch since you beat me at the Grand Tournament ages ago… I guess it’s finally time” Tor said, cracking his neck, as he looked determinedly into Leo’s eyes.

[Ice Layer] said a more delicate voice, as suddenly the entire ground between Leo and his opponents froze over, with Lysa entering the scene.

“You also owe me a rematch–” she said, as she too assumed a fighting stance.

“Ants” Leo replied, charging fearlessly on the thin ice surface, as despite the ice having nearly 0 friction to grip on, Leo glided on its surface with ease, as he closed down the distance between himself and Tor and Lysa.

[Berserker Barrage]

[Icy Winds]

Seeing Leo close down the gap, Tor and Lysa immediately used their combination moves, with Tor creating a stream of martial arts punches aimed to push back and block any advance, while Lysa summoned a gust of chilly winds, aimed at freezing an opponent right where they stood, making them and icicle.

It was the perfect combo move to effectively stop an enemy from advancing, and would most likely work on 999/1000 opponents, however, unfortunately for them, their opponent today was that 1/1000.

Slipping intentionally, Leo fell flat on his belly as he continued his gliding over the ice, avoiding Tor’s martial punches from above.

While to counter Lysa’s icy winds, he placed both his hands in front of his head, creating an aerodynamic arrow, where, his body naturally deflected most of the winds coming his way, allowing him to move through unimpeded.

This way, although he felt the chilly winds and a few small icicles did form on his black robes, it wasn’t enough to stop him dead in his tracks, as he did reach his opponents, crashing into the dry rock, regaining his footing.
