Rebirth: Leading Families to Survive in the Apocalypse
Chapter 137 - Chapter 137: Chapter One Hundred and Thirty-Seven: DetonateChapter 137: Chapter One Hundred and Thirty-Seven: Detonate
By this time, Lu Hao and Su Jin had successfully found some cold weapons in Antique City and were planning to head back the way they had come.
Lu Hao took a fancy to a Tang Sword with a vermilion handle and even tried out his new fighting techniques on a few zombies, feeling pretty satisfied with its efficacy.
Su Jin also collected some other items into her Space, even large chunks of jade from the street stalls, which were small in size but heavy. She planned to give these to Guo Yang when they got back, to be used as bludgeoning weapons.
Just as they were about to get into the car, they heard a rumbling noise nearby.
What was that, the sound of something falling?
“Someone must be around here,”
Lu Hao ruthlessly tossed the Local Tyrant Gold into the back seat, feeling that it was blocking his view from the windshield.
“Should we go check it out?” Su Jin was curious about what had happened; the vibration from before had seemed quite substantial.
“Is it in the same direction we’re going?” Lu Hao asked. If it was, it might be worth checking out.
Tch, this guy who can’t tell directions, hadn’t they just turned in from that direction?
Too lazy to complain about Lu Hao any further, Su Jin buckled up and prepared to set off.
Local Tyrant Gold took its place at the front windshield again, looking out, while Lu Hao remained immersed in the blow of being disdained by Su Jin and didn’t put it back down.
After driving a distance, they noticed that the road, which had been dotted with zombies, was now completely empty.
Strange, had someone cleared out all the zombies?
Or were they lured away by something else?
When things are out of the ordinary, there must be demons at play.
Su Jin tensed up and drove forward, only to see seven or eight people running towards them, and the one leading was Liang Jiuqing, whom they had met a few days ago at the Refuge.
Su Jin and Lu Hao quickly got out of the car, and at the same time, sporadic roars could be heard coming from ahead.
“What are you doing here!” Liang Jiuqing shouted.
“We came to find some supplies. What’s happened up ahead?”
Su Jin looked at the ragged group in front of her, their bodies reeking of blood, their faces ashen, unsure of what they had been through.
Liang Jiuqing briefly explained their failed mission. They had also set out in a military truck today, but they encountered a Metal Element Mutated Zombie while attracting the zombies, which destroyed their only vehicle. Moreover, they had lost a Wind Element Special Ability User.
“You need to leave quickly, this won’t hold for long,” Liang Jiuqing called out.
“Are you saying that all those are zombies inside?” asked Su Jin. How could there be so many zombies!
“We didn’t anticipate attracting this many, but now the bomb won’t detonate, and all these zombies have been lured in vain!” Liang Jiuqing was frustrated, all due to that damned Wind Element Zombie!
“This won’t do, the surrounding area will likely be affected,” Lu Hao said.
Most importantly, their villa was not very far from here.
“Is the bomb for exterminating them still at the bus station?” Lu Hao continued.
“Yes, but it’s right in the middle of the zombie horde; none of us can set it off,” a team member behind Liang Jiuqing replied.
“I’ll go and set it off,” Lu Hao said, looking at Liang Jiuqing.
Liang Jiuqing looked at him in surprise and exclaimed, “Are you crazy?! Do you know how many zombies are there?”
She meant no blame, only that she truly didn’t want to see these two perish in vain, especially since they were Miaomiao’s lifesavers.
“He’s a Fire Element user, let him try,” Su Jin also stepped forward and said.
If they couldn’t resolve the trouble here, they would probably have to evacuate from Dragon Leap Villa; after all, no matter how strong they were, they couldn’t confront a Zombie Tide on their own.
Then, Su Jin put the Local Tyrant Gold in the car, and walked with Lu Hao toward the direction of the bus station; it was too dangerous there, so it was better to let it wait here.
“Crazy, absolutely crazy!”
Liang Jiuqing also followed them.
“Team leader! Just the two of them?”
“What are you waiting for, follow them!” Liang Jiuqing’s booming voice instantly awakened everyone who was still in shock, and they hurriedly followed.
Just around the corner was the long-distance bus station. Su Jin and Lu Hao looked toward the inside, which was packed with darkness; they were shocked and also understood why Liang Jiuqing and the others had run so fast.
There were at least tens of thousands of zombies there, and there were definitely Special Ability Zombies inside. How could this metal door possibly hold them back! They haven’t run out now simply because the blood and flesh of the two pilots in the helicopter were still attracting them to the center. Even the zombies at the outermost were struggling to crawl toward the middle!
Time was urgent, there was no room for delay.
“Miss Liang, is the bomb inside that airplane?” Lu Hao turned his head and asked loudly.
“Yes! But it’s too far away, there’s no way to detonate it,” she replied.
“Everyone should leave here immediately, to a safe place!” Lu Hao ordered directly.
What?!!
“Miss Liang, trust us, you all go first,” Su Jin said with a determined tone. For this to have any chance of success, it was necessary for these people to leave the area.
“No way, I can’t let you sacrifice yourselves. If anyone should go, it should be me!”
Liang Jiuqing still refused to leave; she couldn’t bear to let ordinary people make such a sacrifice.
Seeing that persuasion was ineffective, Su Jin directly knocked Liang Jiuqing unconscious with a chop of her hand.
“Take your team leader and leave this place quickly, hurry!” Su Jin’s authority rose, as they could no longer delay here.
Seeing the determination of the two, the other team members didn’t say anything more. They picked up the unconscious Liang Jiuqing and ran in the opposite direction. It was the first time they had encountered people like this, and the aura and commands of those two somehow made them unable to disobey.
“Xiao Jin, you go in first,” Lu Hao meant into the Space.
“No way, I’ll join you,” Su Jin said.
Indeed, she knew Lu Hao’s plan. He intended to detonate the airplane using his Fire Element Ability and then quickly take cover in the Space. In theory, there shouldn’t be too much danger, but there were too many zombies here, and she wasn’t comfortable leaving him alone.
“Alright, wait for my command,” Lu Hao said, knowing no matter how much he tried to persuade her, Su Jin wouldn’t listen. So, he simply took her with him to find the highest vantage point nearby—a double-decker bus standing outside the gate. The fence was in front, and beyond it was a dense crowd of zombies.
Lu Hao looked toward the military helicopter filled with zombies, conjured two huge flames in his hands, combined them into one, and threw it in that direction!
A giant dark fireball soared over the low wall and crashed toward the center of the bus station!
Boom…
A series of explosions followed.
A few team members, who were hiding in a street-side shop with Liang Jiuqing, felt a huge impact inside the shop, and the empty shelves kept shaking.
Those two, they had actually managed to detonate it!
