A few minutes later, Adam found himself sitting on a bed, his upper torso naked and only wearing a brief, in what looked like to be a hospital room as Mark carefully wiped his wounds clean using cotton beads.
"You know... Generally speaking, shouldn't some sexy nurses be dealing with me in this situation?"
Mark only gave a hollow laugh in response, "Sorry. I am far from the beautiful nurse in the fantasy stories you might've read, you brat. Though, perhaps you would have been happier if it was someone like my sister tending to your wounds now, wouldn't you?"
"Oh? Should I take this as a matchmaking attempt Mr. Mark?"
"Heh nah! My little sis is way too fierce for a young man like you. She is even more stubborn and bullheaded than me and that's saying something."
The atmosphere was quite calm and Adam managed to keep still while his wounds were being bandaged by Mark.
"You know I said this was not necessary, right?"
Adam had to admit that it felt very weird being forced to heal normally like this. He became so used to simply dying and instantly regenerating himself that he had forgotten that he technically had no supernatural healing factor among his relatively stacked list of powers.
'Perhaps this isn't such a bad thing, after all.'
This was a good lesson for him. Dying and reviving instantly in the middle of a battle wasn't a plausible scenario without a suitable ally to act as a distraction for him.
He had been lucky with Natasha back then and Lilith not long ago but he couldn't always count on being lucky like that now, could he?
'I wonder if there is a way to increase my revival speed somehow.'
If he could make it instantaneous, it would be very useful for him in his future battles and confrontations.
'Do I need to die more to see if it's possible?'
Mark, not knowing the morbid thoughts swimming in Adam's mind continued to speak casually and continued his speech.
"Well. We don't have any godly potions here and you don't seem to have some super regeneration ability with you. So. let me do this at least."
Mark waved his hand in dismissal and showed his expertise in first aid as he covered Adam's wounds in bandages.
"Even though we can't use potions, those bandages are covered in runes and were drenched in holy water. They can accelerate your healing rate and avoid infection."
This was one of the necessities on the battlefield. They were not as effective as potions obviously, but they were much cheaper and the church price was quite acceptable. Enough for even low-level hunters to buy them regularly.
"Well. This is done. It should be alright now."
He patted Adam on the back, causing him to wince a little.
"Shit. Sorry. Forgot."
"You forgot I was wounded when you were the very one who bandaged my wounds?"
"Heh..."
Mark gave an awkward laugh as he washed his hands in the sink.
"To be honest. I am still a little confused. After all, I am now officially your handler, mister super heir."
The way he quoted it with his fingers made it funny for Adam. "You are calmer than I thought."
"Well...After I was sure the Director wouldn't silence me, I had no more reason to be stressed."
Even though this was said with a joking tone, Mark was quite serious. It wasn't strange for people to vanish 'mysteriously' because they heard more than they should have and a Director had enough power to make a small silver-ranked hunter like him vanish completely with no proof to have ever existed.
"As for you being the scion of a superfamily like the Kaminari. I won't lie. This doesn't matter to me."
He shrugged. He wasn't the kind to bow and scrape for high-ranked people. Just because they could erase his existence didn't mean that they were worthy of respect.
Adam smiled, "Well. This doesn't matter for me either if I am honest."
Mark nodded. He had heard enough to know that there was quite the story underneath all this. A story that he wasn't particularly interested in knowing.
Ignorance was bliss and he was already a little too involved in this storm.
ραпdα nᴏνɐ| сom "Anyways. Most if not all hunters work under a moniker and hide their identity. This is a standard procedure to avoid retaliation. We can also provide fake face masks as well as entirely new fake but official IDs. Since you are a gold-ranked Hunter, albeit temporarily, you will receive the premium package. We can craft an entire history, family, school achievement and so much more for your Persona as a hunter."
He took a pad and started filling in the blank before giving it to Adam.
"Your psychological test will have to be made later as the one who can handle it is currently absent. But I believe you will pass it with flying colors.
So -- what will be your moniker?"
Adam took the pad curiously. He was seriously starting to wonder just what the heck the so-called Psychological test would be about. But he could only wait.
As for his moniker? His decision was already made one week ago when he faced Asmodeus
"You can call me -- The Magician."
He would make sure that this name became something no one could ignore.

While Adam was having his wounds dressed, another clash was about to take place. But this time, it was one between sisters.
Standing face to face, the similarities between Theresa and Cecilia became more than evident.
In a way, they could nearly pass for twins.
But this similarity only stopped at their physical appearance. In terms of aura, if Cecilia was like a warm sun during spring, Theresa was more like a chill wind in winter.
One fought up close using fire and her sword like a berserker, while the second fought from far away using ice and guns like a tactician.
"You know. All this while I thought we lost contact because you either died or were lost somewhere in the Astral Realm with Lady Mei. So color me surprised when I came to Los Angeles and felt your presence, I was curious. Why were you here? Where was Lady Mei?"
She chuckled, "Then that Adam boy appeared. 21 years old and the son of Lady Mei. You basically kidnapped and hid the Heir of the Family for two decades. This alone would be worthy of being branded as a traitor. Fortunately, you raised him well and healthy."
She took a cigarette nervously and lit up. She needed a smoke to keep her nerve in check and stop herself from screaming like some crazy woman.
After inhaling deeply the calming herbs her cigarette was made of, she blew the smoke and looked at her sister.
Her sister was not supposed to feel the warm sun. In the past, her sister had always felt like a giant inferno ready to burn the world to the ground or like a mountain that could never be surpassed.
But now...
"Now please for the love of everything we hold dear...Why are you so weak, now?"
Even though her words were harsh, the worry on her face could not be hidden.
Looking at her little sister like this, Cecilia closed her eyes.
"I can't tell you."
"....Are you fucking joking with me, right now!?"
The calming herb had sadly not been enough it seemed. Cecilia sighed. This was going to be awkward.
